Product Description

An underslung EOT crane hangs from runway beams fixed to the roof structure, with the bridge and trolley running beneath them. Because the crane hangs from the roof, the building needs no runway columns, and the hook can sit higher under the roof than with a top running crane. That makes underslung EOT cranes a practical choice for low headroom bays, light to medium loads and layouts where several cranes work independently in the same bay.

You may also see them called underhung bridge cranes or under-running cranes. The names describe the same design: the end carriages run on the lower flange of the runway beams instead of on top of them.

At Macroverse, an underslung EOT cranes manufacturer serving plants across India, every crane is custom engineered around your capacity, span, lift height, roof structure and duty cycle. Single girder and double girder underslung EOT cranes are available from 1T to 10T, with complete lifecycle support, including installation, AMC and genuine spares, so the crane keeps working shift after shift.

Industries We Serve

Our underslung EOT cranes are in service across a wide range of industries, backed by delivered projects and reference sites we can share on request.

Automotive Component Manufacturing
Underslung EOT cranes move dies, fixtures and components along assembly and machining lines, where low roof clearance and tight layouts leave little room for a top running crane.
General Manufacturing and Assembly
Day-to-day handling of components, tooling and finished goods across assembly floors is easier when the crane hangs from the roof and leaves floor space and columns clear.
Machine Shops and Fabrication Units
Plates, sections and weldments are lifted between cutting, fitting and welding stations, with several cranes able to work independently in the same bay.
Warehousing and Logistics
Palletised loads and bulky stock move between storage and dispatch areas, with the crane hung from the roof so aisles and racking stay free.
Packaging and Printing
Reels, rolls and machine parts are loaded and changed over quickly, even in plants with lower roof heights.
Electrical and Electronics Assembly
Panels, enclosures and equipment are lifted into position at assembly stations with smooth, controlled movement.
Maintenance Bays and Workshops
Motors, pumps and gearboxes are lifted during servicing, with a crane available over the work area.
Pharma and Food Processing
Drums, vessels and containers are handled in compact production areas where floor space is limited and a clear floor matters.
Steel and Engineering Units
Light and medium loads are handled in older or low-roof buildings that cannot carry the columns of a top running crane.

Single Girder Underslung EOT Cranes for Low Headroom Bays

Best Suited For:
• Low roof buildings • Machine shops • Assembly lines • Warehouses
• Maintenance bays
Single girder underslung EOT cranes are an economical overhead lifting solution for bays where headroom is limited and the roof structure can carry the load. As under-running cranes, they hang from the runway beams, so you gain lifting height and need no support columns or side brackets.
They suit repetitive handling of light to medium loads. Depending on the application, they can be fitted with electric chain hoists or wire rope hoists, pendant or radio controls, and VFD drives for smooth, accurate movement.

Double Girder Underslung EOT Cranes for Higher Loads and Stability

Best Suited for:
Heavier loads within limited headroom • Longer spans • Continuous operation • Fabrication units • Manufacturing plants
Macroverse double girder underslung EOT cranes are engineered for plants that need more capacity and stability than a single girder crane gives, while headroom is still limited. These underhung bridge cranes use two girders to carry heavier loads over longer spans, and the hoist runs between them for a higher hook position.
Every crane is custom engineered based on your load, span, duty cycle and roof structure, delivering Precision, Protection and Performance while helping reduce downtime and improve productivity.

VFD Controlled Motion

Smooth, Precise & Energy-Efficient Operation

Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) technology provides smooth acceleration and deceleration across hoisting, cross travel and long travel. This reduces load sway, limits stress on the roof structure and enables accurate positioning for safer material handling.

Overload Protection

Protects Your Crane. Protects Your People.

Overload protection monitors the lifted load and stops hoisting beyond the crane’s rated capacity. On a crane that hangs from the roof, this also protects the building structure from loads it was never designed for.

Limit Switches

Controlled Lift and Travel

Upper and lower hoist limit switches and travel limit switches on the bridge and trolley keep movement within safe ends, so the crane stops before it reaches a hard stop.

Anti-Collision System

Safe & Reliable Multi-Crane Operations

Underslung layouts often run several independent cranes in one bay. Anti-collision technology detects safe operating distances and prevents crane-to-crane interference, specified to your layout.

Wireless Radio Remote Operation

Operate Safely from the Best Position

Industrial wireless radio remote control lets operators work from a safe viewing position with full control of the lift. This improves visibility, safety and productivity during placement.

IS/FEM Duty Class

Built for Your Actual Duty Cycle

Every Macroverse crane is designed to the appropriate IS and FEM duty classification, so the girder, gearbox, motors and runway beams are selected for your operating hours, load spectrum and production needs.

What Makes Macroverse Different

As an underslung EOT cranes manufacturer with teams across South India, here is what sets our engineering and after-sales support apart.

Installation, AMC and Spare Parts Support

Buying an underslung EOT crane is the easy part. Keeping it running through every shift is what decides its value. That is why we run our own AMC and preventive maintenance programmes, so you don’t have to find a local contractor once the warranty ends. Our teams handle installation and commissioning, carry out scheduled inspections, and supply genuine spare parts for the mechanical, electrical and structural systems on every crane. So when a part needs replacing, it doesn’t turn into a week of downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is an underslung EOT crane, and how is it different from an underhung bridge crane?
They are the same type of crane under different names. An underslung EOT crane, also called an underhung bridge crane or under-running crane, hangs from runway beams fixed to the roof, with the bridge and trolley running beneath them. It suits buildings with limited headroom, light to medium loads and bays where several cranes need to work independently. It also removes the need for runway columns.
2. How do I know what capacity and span I need for my facility?
Capacity and span depend on your heaviest lift, the width of the bay and your roof structure. Our engineering team typically asks for your building’s GA drawing (or basic dimensions), the maximum load and the type of material handled. From this, we recommend the right capacity, span and girder type, so you don’t need to arrive with these figures worked out.
3. Can my existing roof structure support an underslung crane?
Often yes, but the roof or supporting steel must carry the weight of the crane and the lifted load. Our engineers review your structure before finalising the design and suggest reinforcement or a separate support frame if needed.
4. What is the difference between single girder and double girder underslung EOT cranes?
  • Single girder underslung EOT cranes: economical, lighter on the roof structure and suited to light to medium loads.
  • Double girder underslung EOT cranes: built for higher loads within the 10T range and for longer spans, with the hoist running between the girders for a higher hook position and added stability.
The right choice depends on your load, span, roof strength and how often the crane runs.
5. How are under-running cranes different from top running EOT cranes?
A top running EOT crane rides on rails above supporting columns or gantry girders and handles far higher capacities. Under-running cranes hang from the roof beams, save headroom and suit lighter loads. For single workstations, you can also look at our light cranes and jib cranes.
6. What standards do your cranes comply with?
Our cranes are engineered with reference to:
  • IS 3177 for design of EOT cranes
  • IS 807 for design and erection guidelines
  • CMAA and FEM classifications for duty cycle and structural design, where the application demands it
If you require a crane certified to a specific standard for a regulated industry, let us know during enquiry so it is built into the design brief.
7. How long does it take from order confirmation to a working crane on site?
Lead time depends on capacity, span and customisation. A standard single girder crane generally moves faster through design and fabrication than a double girder crane with special requirements. We provide a project-specific timeline once your technical requirement is finalised.
8. What safety features come standard on your underslung EOT cranes?
  • Overload protection
  • Upper and lower limit switches on the hoist
  • Travel limit switches on the bridge and trolley
  • Emergency stop controls
  • Travel limit switches on the bridge and trolley
Anti-collision systems, load monitoring and radio remote control can be added depending on your operational risk profile and site layout.
9. What happens if the crane breaks down? Do you offer AMC and spare parts for underslung cranes?
Yes. We maintain after-sales support for the cranes we supply, including breakdown support and genuine spares such as motors, brakes, wire ropes, limit switches and contactors. AMC plans are available separately and cover scheduled inspections, lubrication and wear-part checks, and priority breakdown response. We recommend OEM spares over generic substitutes, particularly for load-bearing and braking parts.
10. What information should I have ready before requesting a quotation?
The quotation process moves fastest when you can share:
  • The load to be lifted (in tons)
  • The span or bay width
  • Building height and headroom
  • Roof structure details (steel section, spacing)
  • Duty cycle (lifts per hour or per shift)
  • The environment (indoor, corrosive, high temperature)
  • Whether it is a new installation or a replacement
If you don’t have all of this yet, our team can guide you through a basic site assessment to work it out together.
